About Our Farm
Our small farm started as a project to grow anything and everything to benefit pollinators and whichever creatures came our way. Over the years, creatures that needed extra help found us, and we became a safe home for ducks and cats with different needs. We focus on growing as many beneficial plants as possible for our animal friends and all local bugs, birds, and other life.
It all started with Petunia.
Petunia the duck showed up in our field one day.
We have no idea where she came from, or why she has only one foot, or why she chose us. Maybe she heard our few ducks at the time, maybe she saw pleasant greenery. We suspect she escaped the meat industry. She is now a happy grandmother, feasting on flower blossoms and mealworms to her hearts content with her daughter and grand ducklings.
Saint Philip
Philip is the saint and savior of our flock. Years ago, something attacked in the night and took some members of our flock. Philip is why a very bad night wasn’t true catastrophe. He nearly lost his life and did lose functionality of one wing defending our flock alongside Petunia from the invader. Philip is a gentle soul, preferring to spend most of his time in lush grass or floating in his pool. He has taken over the unexpected duty of looking after nesting mothers, nudging them to go get water and rotating eggs whenever he can.
Mr. Void
Mr. Void was the first cat to find us requesting aid. It took a very long time to win his trust, and longer still to be able to get him the help he so badly needed. He had a bone tumor on his paw, causing him great pain, in addition to the dental problems one would see in an older cat that had always been on the streets. We took him in and saw to his medical care, turning a scared street cat into a pampered and beloved house cat for the rest of his days. He took to the house cat life immediately, dining on wet food and naps in sunbeams with friends. He started our commitment to helping cats, whether they stay on our farm one night or for life.
